Chief train conductor
At NS, we refer to the chief train conductor as ‘HC’. We no longer have ‘regular conductors’: everyone working on the train and carrying out checks is an HC. This shows that every conductor is equally important. They are the face of NS on the train.
The HC is here for everyone
HCs walk through the train, assist travellers with any questions, and check that everyone has correctly checked in. They no longer punch tickets like in the past, except occasionally for children—an exception they are happy to make.
