Wouter Koolmees
CEO
Wouter Koolmees has been CEO of NS since November 1, 2022.
Wouter has a broad background in politics and public administration. From October 26, 2017, to January 10, 2022, he was Minister of Social Affairs and Employment in the Rutte III cabinet. From November 1, 2019, to May 14, 2020, he also served as Deputy Prime Minister.
Earlier, from June 17, 2010, to October 26, 2017, Wouter was a Member of Parliament for D66. There he was the financial spokesperson and deputy parliamentary group leader. He studied Economics at Utrecht University and began his career as an economic researcher. Afterwards, he worked as a civil servant at the Ministry of Finance, where he was among other things head of budget policy at the Directorate-General of the National Budget.
Angelique Magielse
Finance Director
Angelique Magielse has been Finance Director of NS since March 1, 2024. She is responsible, among other things, for Finance, Procurement, Corporate Real Estate, and Abellio.
Angelique started her career at KPMG and then worked in various roles within NS. Since 2016, she has been part of the management board of NS subsidiary Abellio. She is a certified public accountant (NiVra) and studied Business Economics at the University of Amsterdam.
Eelco van Asch
Director of Operations
Eelco van Asch has been a member of the Board of Directors of NS and Director of Operations since March 1, 2021. He is responsible for all operational transport and maintenance activities of NS in the Netherlands.
After studying Economics and becoming a Registered Controller at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Eelco began his career at Delta Lloyd. He then worked at KLM Cargo, where he held various managerial roles. In 2016, he became Senior Vice President Ground Services. He ended his career at KLM as Executive Vice President Information Services & CIO.
Additionally, between 2009 and 2017, Eelco was a commissioner at Cargonaut and Smartlox.
Liesbeth Kaashoek
Director of People and IT
Since June 15, 2024, Liesbeth Kaashoek has been Director of People and IT at NS. Within NS, she works on sustainable personnel policies and focuses on digitization and innovation.
Previously, Liesbeth was responsible for Parcels and Logistics Solutions and was a member of the Executive Committee of PostNL. She held various executive positions within operations there. She was also interim Director of Operations (COO) and member of the Board of Directors at network operator Enexis.
Daan Schut
Director of Commercial and Network
Daan Schut has been Director of Commercial and Network at NS since April 1, 2025. He is responsible for deploying NS services on the national rail network and for the product offerings for travelers.
In the six years prior to joining NS, Daan was Chief Transition Officer and member of the Board of Directors at Alliander. Before that, he held various director and management positions within Alliander and worked as a management consultant at KPMG.
