Revised AVR-NS as of January 1, 2026

We have updated our General Conditions for the Transport of Travellers and Hand Luggage (AVR-NS). The revised conditions will take effect on January 1, 2026. The following changes are included:

  • Updates regarding the introduction of the OV-pas
  • Clarification of Article 4.1 with respect to (social) safety
  • Reference to the differing conditions for carrying bicycles on the Alphen a/d Rijn - Gouda train service in Article 5.4
  • Removal of references to Twitter and the ODR platform from Article 10, as these are no longer channels NS uses
  • Increase of the statutory fine for fare evasion and statutory administrative costs in Article 11.1
  • Information added to Article 12.3 regarding the adjustment of tariffs
  • Removal of the reference (‘sticker’) on the front page to the consultation framework since this framework no longer exists in that form; the reference to Rover remains
